Admissions

At Queensville Montessori Academy we honour and value each child’s uniqueness and stage of development. As such, we accept and place children according to their readiness not age. Readiness at the Casa level is generally between 2.5 and 4 years of age. Readiness is determined by independence level, the ability to express needs, listening skills, and the ability to use the washroom and eat independently.

Registrations are accepted any time during the school year, provided there is space available. Starting dates during typical intake months are staggered to ensure a smooth transition for your child.

To facilitate a smooth transition, starting dates for new children are staggered over a one week period.   You will be notified of your child’s exact start date prior to the beginning of the school year.  It is the policy of the school that children are enrolled at the school based on the parent's commitment to having the child complete the "full cycle" of the program. The school is committed to a complete and authentic Montessori program: two and three day programs are not offered for sound pedagogical and child’s development reasons.

Queensville Montessori Academy accepts registrations on a first come, first served basis. However, if there is a requirement for a wait list, names will be placed on a list in the order of request and if a space becomes available, the family will be contacted. No fees are charged for being on our wait list.

Our Admissions Process

  • School Tour or Open House Visit

Prospective families are invited to schedule a tour of the school. Tours are conducted weekdays. Open houses are scheduled on select Saturdays, between 9:30 AM and noon, throughout the year.

  • Classroom Observation

We encourage parents/guardians to observe in our beautiful Montessori environments. Observations are key to fully understand the Montessori philosophy and also to witness how it would be like for your child to attend our school. Observations are for adults only and are 20-25 minutes in length.

  • Child Visit

We invite each child to experience the Children’s House (Casa) environment by scheduling a classroom visit prior to admission.

A comprehensive enrollment package, including all fees, forms and additional information on Montessori education, is provided to prospective families when they come for a tour or when they attend an Open House.

Testimonials

Girl Planting

“We are so grateful to have had both of our boys attend Queensville Montessori Academy. The environment that is set up for the children is so warm, inviting and organized with so many learning activities at their fingertips. What we really appreciate is the connectedness to life skills and nature that is woven into each day for the children. They are not only learning traditional subject matter in Maria Montessori’s way, but they are learning about life - social skills, being respectful toward others, responsibility and time management. We are always amazed with what our boys are learning and absorbing at such a young age given the right environment, tools and encouragement from Lorena and her exceptional staff.

Parent involvement is also encouraged and observation time slots are offered to allow you a window of opportunity into your child’s life in the classroom.

We did not hesitate once when it came time to enroll our youngest for another year!”

“Our daughter has been attending Queensville Montessori Academy since she was two and a half years old and will be graduating from the Casa program in a few months. When we were first looking at schools, what drew us to QMA was the beautiful facility, where everything was designed from a child's perspective, with obvious thought put into making the materials accessible to little ones, beautiful, and inviting. The teachers took the time to really understand our daughter, making her feel so special and welcomed, and there was lots of communication to let me know how my little one was adjusting. My husband and I were so surprised to see our painfully shy little girl blossom into a confident, outgoing kid by the end of her first year. Academically, we have seen our daughter as well as her peers make leaps and bounds, but also there was never any resistance to learning new things or working to hone a skill like addition or cursive writing, and I know that this had everything to do with the care the teachers take to connect with each child, and present the material in a manner that draws them in. Also, we loved that through the school, we have met a community of likeminded parents. Ultimately though, the most important thing to us was that our daughter was part of a school culture that reflected our family values: teaching her to approach each person from a place of caring, resolve conflicts with friendship, and become accountable for herself. Each of the teachers has been a role model for our daughter, and we know that their examples and her time at Queensville Montessori Academy will be a big part of the individual she grows up to be.”- The Bilinski Family

“Queensville Montessori Academy is a very special place. We have had experience with three other Montessori schools over the years, as we have moved twice, and we can say with confidence that QMA offers the most authentic Montessori education of them all. We have three children who attended QMA over seven years and we cannot express how incredible the school, its programs and teachers are. QMA has found a way to combine a strong academic foundation, practical skills for everyday life, and a love for music, art and language in a warm, nurturing and welcoming environment. The teachers truly care about each and every child and it is evident they only want the best for their students. Our children were excited to go to school there every day. They developed friendships that will last for years to come and continue to share memories from their time at QMA. We could not have given our children a better start in life. Thank you to Lorena Vucko and her amazing school.”

“We decided to join Queensville Montessori this year after visiting numerous other Montessori academies around York Region. We immediately had a sense of comfort and confidence when visiting the school. The layout is open and welcoming, as are the teachers working there. Our confidence and happiness with our decision to enroll our little one there has grown with each passing week. Our daughter comes home excited about her days and the new things she has discovered while at school. The low student/teacher ratio, caring staff, and creative environment allow my daughter to be supported during her time at school. We are thrilled with every aspect of our experience with Queensville Montessori and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.”

“It is with a very heavy heart that we say a final farewell to Queensville Montessori Academy today. This school... what can I say? It's the most unique little paradise with a huge heart! While I'm thrilled that my son has graduated and is beginning a new chapter in life, I am also sad that he has reached the end of his Montessori journey. We will miss this beautiful school immensely. He will miss his friends and his amazing teacher but most of all, the learning environment and the lessons. There will always be a special place in my heart for the experience we had at QMA, I feel so lucky to have had it. We made amazing friends who feel like family and will always remain dear to us. Eight years of love, support, integrity, independence, grace, courtesy, laughter and learning with passionate directresses who have been like secondary mothers to our boys. These are some of the most beautiful women I know. The school has been a living extension of our own family and the most perfect place to build a solid foundation for our sons. My gratitude is difficult to express accurately in words but I want to send out a huge thank you to you all! You will be missed.”
